CryptoSearch© is a free Windows® utility that searches your computer or network for encrypted or password protected files. CryptoSearch© can be used during audits or forensic examinations or to enforce network security policies against password protected files. CryptoSearch© currently supports finding encrypted or password protected versions of the following file types: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Outlook, Zip, Rar, Acrobat and PGP.

 

CryptoSearch© does not identify files by extension or name, but analyzes each file to determine both type and whether or not it is protected. Therefore, CryptoSearch© will find encrypted files of the supported types even if they have been renamed.

 

CryptoSearch© can search your entire network, computer, hard disk, folder or any combination of groups of folders and paths to combine results into a single report. CryptoSearch© can save results either as a text file (.txt) or html file. Either of these reports can be easily printed.

 

CryptoSearch© is a single .exe file and does not require installation. CryptoSearch© does not make any changes to your system or registry. CryptoSearch© requires that .Net® Framework 2.0 Runtime is installed. This may already be installed on your system. The .Net® Framework 2.0 Runtime is freely downloadable and distributable. It can be downloaded and installed from: .Net® Framework 2.0 Runtime. The .Net® Framework 2.0 Runtime will require approximately 280 mb (610 mb on x64 systems) if it is not already installed on your system. CryptoSearch© and the .Net® Framework 2.0 Runtime are compatible with Windows® 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows® 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows® ME; Windows® Server 2003; Windows® XP Service Pack 2.
